Nintendo\'s Metroid Other M had us excited all dayAfter a less than spectacular Nintendo press conference and an OK Sony presser, we hit the E3 floor and demoed games. Lots of games. Needless to say, every day at E3 keeps getting better and better. So check out our roundup of our second day in LA where we saw the Metroid: Other M trailer, demoed Left 4 Dead 2 and were first in line to play The Beatles Rock Band.

Might as well get the less than exciting press briefings out of the way first:

Nintendo: We've been unimpressed, to say the least, so far with the press briefings and Nintendo wasn't much different ... until the end where they almost, almost redeemed themselves. After a lot of boring demos of the Wii and self-aggrandizing talk about how awesome it and its new games are, we were ready to be done. But the big reveal came at the end when they gave us the first look at the next Metroid game: Metroid Other M. Of course the crowd went wild, as did all the fans.

That moment almost had Nintendo tied with Microsoft for our favorite moment of E3 ... but not quite

Sony: A lot of bloody video game montages ... several video game trailers ... oh, and they announced the PSP Go!. The "worst-kept" secret of E3 is smaller and faster and has all the specs we've been reading about ... and they seemed to spend an inordinate amount of time expounding the fact that a full-fledged version of Gran Turismo was running on the little guy. Great. They should have spent more time demoing the new motion control system. While Sony didn't really show a finished product and how it could be used, they did show off the functionality of their technology. Final impression: We think Sony needed to show they were working on a Wii-like controller too ... it has a lot of potential, but we probably won't see anything from it for a while.

Then, on to the floor where we got our fill of games and more and more games and Alienware's new laptop.

Demo of The Beatles RockbandWe were first in line to play The Beatles Rock Band. We love the Fab Four. Overall, we were really impressed and the guitars looked awesome! The game has some cool features which probably makes it one of the best Rock Bands so far.

We caught up on some AVP action - sad that we have to wait until 2010 for the next game. We also got hands on with Brutal Legend and the Deuce from Electronic Arts and, despite our skepticism we liked it and we may end up enjoying being a roadie. We also hit up Dragon Age: Origins and got to play it ourselves and, as experts, we think this looks like the real thing. We liked the decision to forgo the photorealism for a WOW-like effect.

Left 4 Dead 2 was great to play, although it left a little tiny something to be desired. Rather than coming off as an actual sequel, the game felt more like an expansion of the original. Yeah, yeah, say all you want about new characters and the fact that Left 4 Dead was so great you don't need to change it ... but still, it's not that much different. And then, of course, Mass Effect 2. No pictures or video allowed, but just take our word for it, it was pretty sweet. We won't say much more other than follow the link to get some spoilers.

Finally, we got to play with the M17x, the "all-powerful" Alienware gaming laptop. We were impressed when we sat down and played Capcom's Dark Void without a hitch. On the whole we think it's a beautiful piece of equipment and Alienware has outdone themselves on this one.

Follow up with yesterday's roundup and keep coming back for our live coverage of E3 and our day-by-day summaries of the best the gaming world has to offer.
