Tales of Monkey Island Episode 3 Release Date Announced, Play Episode 1 for Free

It seems like it takes so much longer than a month to get the next installment in the Tales of Monkey Island series of monthly episodic releases. Of course, it’s a good thing that we’re waiting so anxiously to hear when the next episode will come out. Telltale Games, the developer behind Tales of Monkey Island, has finally announced the release date for Episode 3, Lair of the Leviathan. It will be available for download September 29.
Also, Telltale can’t pass up the opportunity (rightly so) to celebrate Talk Like a Pirate Day, which is coming up this Saturday, September 19. In order to start the pirate-talk bash off right, Telltale Games has decided to offer the first episode in the Tales of Monkey Island series, Launch of the Screaming Narwhal, as a free download for a limited time. Happy Talk Like a Pirate Day!
The download will be available for a little over a full day. It will start at 4:01 pm PST on Friday, September 18 and run through all of Talk Like a Pirate Day and end at midnight PST Saturday the 19th . Download the free first episode during that time period from http://www.playlikeapirate.com. If you haven’t gotten into the latest Monkey Island series, now is the best (and cheapest) time to do so.
But let’s get back to Episode 3. In order to tease the coming release, Telltale has posted a lot of fan speculation about what might happen in Lair of the Leviathan and unveiled a few screenshots of the action.
Spoiler warning ahead! When we left Guybrush at the end of Siege of Spinner Cay, he and his entire ship had been swallowed by an enormous manatee, which isn’t as weird as you might think it is. This is Guybrush Threepwood after all. We know Morgan LeFlay and good old Mr. Winslow are with him, but Dave Grossman hinted that they would be meeting other people there inside the belly of the beast.
You’ve got less than two weeks before you find out exactly who it is. Time to warm up the anticipation drives. Full power to speculation containment fields. Enjoy the ride.
