Yggdra Union is an unabashed port of a two-year-old Game Boy Advance game. Its move to the PSP doesn't herald an overhaul of the rudimentary battlefield display nor does it spice up the skirmishes with graphical flashes.

Too bad it's not particularly engaging. You can take a game of tic-tac-toe and throw a whole bunch of spicy house rules on it, but let's face it: You're drawing friggin' circles and Xs.

I thoroughly enjoyed the opening moments of each map, looking over the terrain for bonuses and counting moves to make sure that I engaged the enemy with the perfect formation.
