PS3 Slim, Video Store, Marvel Comics Highlight Sony Press Conference at Gamescom
The PS3 Slim, with ads leaked from Kmart and verified on Sears.com, comes with everything the gamer needs to do more than just play games. The new low-profile PS3 Slim comes with a 120GB hard drive, Blu-ray (of course), HDMI, and 1080p support in a welcome price cut to $299.99.
The PS3 Slim release date for Kmart and Sears shows August 24, although Sony announced that it wouldn't be available until the first week of September.
For those Xbox Live proponents who have long decried the PlayStation Network's perceived lack of video streaming capability (PlayOn, anyone?), the PlayStation video store will offer movies for rent or purchase on both PS3 and PSP this November.
Finally, in a move unheard of on portable gaming devices to this point, the Digital Reader will hit the PSP in December, with a service called Digital Comics. "Digital Comics will launch with hundreds available, including the Marvel Comics stable," said SCEE CEO and President Andrew House. [Engadget, Joystiq]
