New Left 4 Dead 2 Info May Make it More Than an Expansion
When we played Left 4 Dead 2 at E3, we came away with mixed feelers. Yes we love re-killing the undead as much as the next guy, but we didn't see a lot to convince us that L4D2 was more than an expansion. That may have changed.
GameSpy reports today that new zombie classes will be in L4D2, including the Spitter and "common-uncommons." Spitters are a long-range zombie, lobbing their wads of zombie mucosa at your group to not only inflict area damage, but scatter and separate you from your peers. Common-uncommons are specific to certain levels, including the "mud men" from the Swamp level, and reportedly sound like the fast zombies from Half Life 2.
Also, it's likely that pills and first aid kits won't be in the versus mode anymore, and ammo packs and adrenaline will now be found throughout single player and Survivor mode levels. That will probably be an either/or deal where you can either have a first aid kit or an ammo pack; pills or adrenaline. Adrenaline packs turn you into a hyper-psycho zombie killer, able to melee with entire hordes and take much more damage. There's nothing like shanking two zombies at the same time.
