Playstation 2 & 3, and Guitar Hero? Did Sony drop a ton of cash on Logitech for exclusivity?

I would hope that Logitech's drum set ends up working with both GH and Rock Band, like the ION set, but I'm concerned. Logitech's set looks like a somewhat bulkier older brother to the regular GH World Tour drum set. Each pad and cymbal is completely adjustable for height and reach, but you're still stuck with one horizontal axis to move them along. The metal pedal is a nice addition, as I've already burned through oneGHWT drum pedal, and another one is acting up; which brings us to durability.

Let's face it, the drum kit for GHWT is cheap. Cheaply designed, built and assembled to hit a certain, competitive price point. In five and a half months I went through one complete set and two kick pedals, and have already broken a cymbal on the new month-old set -- chalk that up to playing Guitar Hero Metallica to relieve stress. At $199.99, theLogitech kit is cheaper than the ION Drum Rocker set by $100, but at least the ION is available for the Xbox 360 and PS2/3, AND it works with both Rock Band 2 and Guitar Hero World Tour (and probablyGH: Metallica).

So this new Logitech set falls somewhere in the middle of the road between the cheap stock GHWT drum set and the ultra-articulated, all-game-and-console-compliant ION. Time will tell whether it's durable and customizable enough to justify its $199.99 price tag. Pre-order now and you could have your Logitech Premium Drum Kit by August; I'd rather wait until someone gives it a good run through.
