IGN's E3 2009 Predictions

IGN's crack editing team have put forth their predictions for this year's Electronics Entertainment Expo, better known as E3. Some are surprising, others, not so much, but they do lend credence to a few rumors that have been around for a while. Details after the jump!
IGN Playstation Team Editor-in-Chief Chris Roper on Sony at E3:
"... Sony will announce a new version of the PlayStation Portable. The announcement of a price drop for the Sony PS3 console is also expected."
FINALLY a PS3 price drop! I'd better temper my enthusiasm, since we heard this a lot throughout 2008. This isn't the first time we've had confirmation of the PSP sequel, possibly named PSP Go!.
IGN Xbox Team Editor-in-Chief Hilary Goldstein on Microsoft at E3:
"... Microsoft will finally pull back the curtain and reveal the long-awaited blockbuster, Alan Wake, while also unveiling a new motion sensor camera that will revolutionize the way videogame cameras are used."
Alan Wake? Finally? As with anybody with a 360 and a pulse, I can't wait to see if the buzz surrounding the purported motion controll... wait. Motion camera? Oh please tell me I can stalk about my living room with a plastic gun controller pew-pewing zombies/bad guys/water fowl!
IGN Nintendo Team Editor-in-Chief Matt Casamassina "... expects the success of the Wii to be an overriding theme and predicts announcements of classic game downloads for the DSi, as well as new Mario, Pikmin and Zelda adventures."
I'd love to see an encore of last year's demo, myself, but I've been working with a therapist on my schadenfreude...I can be a better person. Anyway, this doesn't scream NEW AWESOME STUFF to me, so we'll see.
Other hot topics include Social Gaming, Digital Download Overload, and Peripheral Focus. What does that mean? Check IGN for the full skinny and details on their E3 Coverage Plan. In the meantime we'll keep the tech and gaming news coming!
