Best Buy Sweetens the Deal on Recently Purchased PS3 Returns
It's funny how often the most secret corporate plans are foiled by the "lowly" retail gamer proletariat. The latest example is Best Buy's return policy on PS3s. The employees of Best Buy, ever true to their gaming brethren, passed on an internal memo outlining a new PS3 returns policy.
If you bought an older generation PS3 in the last thirty days, and now want to return it for a PS3 Slim with a larger hard drive and smaller price tag, Best Buy might dissuade you with a few free games. Which ones? Infamous, MLB 09 the Show, and Killzone 2 -- all gamer favorites, but I'd ask the same question as Crecente:
"...is it worth more than the smaller footprint and bigger hard drive?"
I suppose it's up to you, but given the popularity of Infamous and Killzone 2, it's likely you could get them used for a fraction of the retail price. There's always inherent risk in early adoption of the latest and greatest in a product line, but I find myself thinking about ways I could grab a PS3 Slim more and more lately, and I'm happy with my Xbox 360. At its price point and value as a small console with a ton of space and Blu-ray capability out of the box, I'd forgo the free games and trade in a recently purchased PS3 for the Slim in a heartbeat, and so should you.
