Game Review: Tales of Monkey Island: Rise of the Pirate God
by Dan Hope
The problem with making episodic games, as Telltale Games does, is that the last episode must be the highlight of the season. It can’t just be good, or even as good as the best episode. It has to wow us just like any good season finale. Fortunately, Telltale was able to do just that with the finale of the first season of Tales of Monkey Island.
We’ve been all over the Caribbean and even inside a Caribbean creature with our protagonist, Guybrush Threepwood.
Walmart Offers $50 Gift Card with Purchase of Wii
by Dan Hope
Are we in some sort of Twilight Zone? After years of Wii shortages and outrageous demand for the gaming console during the holidays, suddenly Walmart needs to offer a $50 discount to sell them this year? Turns out it’s not the Twilight Zone. It’s reality.
Walmart’s deal lasts from Dec. 5 through Dec. 12. Anyone who buys a Wii console during that time will receive a $50 gift card redeemable in Walmart stores.

by Dan Hope
Just as Xbox Live gamers are receiving the dashboard update allowing them to use Facebook on the Xbox 360, Sony has put together a teaser video showing the Facebook integration coming in the latest update to the PlayStation 3 firmware (version 3.10).
Don’t get too excited; this isn’t full integration. Basically the Facebook app will send status updates on PlayStation Network purchases, in-game achievements and Trophies when you sync your account to PlayStation servers.
Facebook and Twitter Available on Xbox Live Next Week
by Dan Hope
It has been a long time coming (since it was announced at E3 last June), but the big day is almost here. Xbox Live will be infused with all the social networking you can stomach when Facebook and Twitter integrate with the Xbox Live dashboard on Nov. 17.
The confirmation comes from Xbox Live general manager Marc Whitten, which basically means he’s admitting that the release date originally leaked on the UK Xbox site was true.
Blizzard Announces StarCraft II Beta in 2010
by Dan Hope
We should have known this would happen. This is Blizzard Entertainment we’re talking about, after all. At the IgroMir event, Russia’s largest gaming convention, StarCraft II lead producer Chris Sigaty said what we’ve all been afraid to hear: StarCraft II beta testing won’t even start until next year.
Blizzard has a habit of going over deadline on their games, by years sometimes. It would be unforgivable if the games didn’t end up being so good.
